It was the original site for Russian rule and colonization and has remained a significant cultural icon in Torland. Yubay is uniquely split into two sides, known as the Sava Side and the Niko Side. These two sides produce a heated rivalry in culture, work, and even sports.

Alko is home to two teams in the [[Torland Hockey League]], the [[Yubay Falcons]]: who play their games at the Yertas Arena, and the [[Yubay Glaciers]], who play their home games at the Glacier Dome.
