 In 1962 Torland officials decided to revamp the system and use the 93 incorporated cities as a base from which to assign new two-digit area codes, designating [[Abrieden]] as the first number in alphabetical order from 06-98, leaving numbers 02, 03, 04, and 05 unassigned for future expansion, along with 99 remaining reserved for emergency services.

 In 1992, Torland officials made some adjustments. 08 was removed from Antedon and assigned as the secondary area code for Alko. Antedon was merged with Belris and code 13. Perimur's 63 was removed and merged with 17 in Caddell. Code 63 was reassigned to Snobon, to cover the Torch River Lakes area. Varele's 91 was reassigned to Hadenfield to better cover the valley area. Varele will utilize [[Kurohara|Kurohara's]] code 44 instead. The code 19 assigned to Certonrack was removed and merged into code 67 for [[Portarra]]. Code 19 will be assigned to Hyletville and the Tamokeva coast.
 Codes 02 and 09 have typically been used in film for fictional numbers, but Torland officials have been recommending against usage of 09 as it has spurred too many prank calls accidentally going to emergency hotlines. 04, though officially unassigned, has seen a recent uptick in usage for 5G wireless and other digital mobile services. It is expected to be fully reserved for this in the future. 03 remains unassigned.
