Dosa City, also known colloquially as DC, is the largest city in the state of New Dosa.
The wild and eclectic metropolitan of Dosa City is the largest in New Dosa and 5th largest in Torland. Host to numerous nicknames and monikers, its official nickname of “Money City” stems not from it being a financial center but from the boastful declaration of its citizens throughout the decades that there is always money to made in the city with its plentiful docks and transport services.
Featuring an extremely diverse demographic, “DC” is lauded as a place where anyone can come work hard and play hard. The braggadocios attitude carries over into the “Docktown” mentality where every man is for himself unless other cities try to poke fun and they will quickly band together and fight back. The people of “Turtleville” (from a political and critical cartoon deriding the city, showed a turtle flipped on its back unable to move, while “swimming” in gold dollar bills, which was immediately adopted as a source of pride) are relentless workers and insatiable for entertainment, noted by a large quantity of casinos and bars on every corner.
As a city with a melting pot of personalities, it has developed a fun-loving edge of revelry and hedonism, evidenced by a high rate of petty crime and a fairly low rate of felonies. Being a booming hub for commercial, domestic and international shipping and receiving, Dosa City is home to several well-known mobsters masquerading as slick, well-to-do businessmen– all part of the larger-than-life mystique of the town.
Work strikes are common among the dockworkers and shipping work forces, as the working-class try to consistently keep the white collar class businesses and bureaucrats on their toes. The city architecture has grown as colorful as its people, freely intermixing many styles and forms into a unique sprawling blend of modern gaudy and the original stately Victorian. Though not a particularly artistic culture, impressive street art adorns much of the inner city. New Dosa is also home to trade school Coulston-Dunlis College. The Raiders are members of UTAC's South Sun Conference.
Except for City Center, where cultures are more blended, a unique characteristic of the city is people can tell which side of the river they're from based on their accent. East Siders pronounce “Dosa” with a distinct “S” sound, and West Siders pronounce it with a “Z” sound. Thus, the Tussland neighborhoods are said with elongated “S” sounds and the Fossard neighborhood is pronounced “Fozzard.”
Dosa City is home to the Dosa City Snappers of the Torland Hockey League. They play their games at the Docktown Dome.
