Kirkenport is home to Fort McLendon, a Torland Navy and Air Corps base located on the south side of the Isle of Kirk just outside city limits. The base also runs a publicly shared regional airport, Isle of Kirk Airport (IOK) which is leased to the city for public transportation.

Kirkenport is home to the Kirkenport Captains of the Torland Hockey League who plays their home games at the Kirk Coliseum.
